
PSIRS Executive Chairman Flags Off SWIT National Schools Debate on Taxation and Economic Growth
The Executive Chairman of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS), Mr. Jim Pam Wayas, inaugurated the Society of Women In Taxation (SWIT) National Schools Debate on the crucial topic of "Taxation's Impact on Economic Growth: Lowering Taxes Will Stimulate the Nigerian Economy." The event took place in the Conference Hall of the Plateau State Internal Revenue Service Headquarters in Jos.
Mr. Jim Pam, in his address, emphasized the significance of taxation in fostering economic growth, urging students from the six participating schools drawn across the State to bring their best arguments forward and represent Plateau State with excellence. He called upon the participants to embody the spirit of good ambassadors and strive to bring home the National trophy to Plateau State.
Other guests at the event leaned on the Executive Chairman's views. In their separate remarks; Mrs. Rosemary Mamot, Chairperson Debate Planning Committee, Hajiya Halimatu Maidambe, SWIT Plateau State Coordinator, Hon. Dan Philip Hirkop, Representative of the Chairman Jos and District Society and Mr. Isaac Maram, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education (Secondary) all enjoined the students to be worthy ambassadors, project Plateau State in positive light and return home with the National trophy.
St. Paul's Academy Jos emerged winner with Government Model Secondary School Shendam and Girls High School Gindiri taking the second and third positions respectively. Awards and prizes were presented to the winners and participants.
